| Abstract | ||
| Irony is one of the most common items in rhetorics. It has been frequently used in literary texts, esp. in didactic works. In this article, it has been attempted to investigate and clarify the irony in Mathnawi. Of course, this paper is an extract of a comprehensive research plan. This research plan is a scientific study of the irony and all of the ironical combinations in the first two volumes of Mathnawi along with their meanings and senses. The meanings have been presented on the basis of the subjects under question and study. A comparison between various commentaries have been done as well. | ||
