Duringthe past two decades, the detective genrehas experiencedan unprecedented boomin LatinAmerica. Many of the writers writing in this regard have highlightedthe roleof women indetectiveframes.This paper examinesa series ofdetective novelstoexaminebroadlythe evolutionofthe female figure incontemporarydetective novelsofArgentina, Chileand Mexico. Here,we show howthe womandetectivestartsimitatingand parodyingthe figure ofmaledetective, but, over time, come todevelop her own styleof being and feeling, reaching a defined personalitythatallows us to report, in somecases, the difficultsocialrealitythat surrounds her. | ||
