Abstract | ||
It is obvious that setting up digital libraries is inevitable. The reference departments in university libraries have employed the new information technologies to provide intelligent reference services. It is for a long time that human beings tried to make intelligent artifacts. Artificial intelligence has been coined since 1956 by Mc Cardy and is a part of Computer Sciences. As an inter-disciplinary knowledge uses other sciences such as, cognitive science. Artificial systems as a branch of artificial intelligence, is in favour of librarians. This article details traditional reference service vs. online reference service systems and concerns information on the soft wares most commonly used in online reference service.
