Abou Mansour Hossem, who, after his great grandfather, is known as “Ebn E Zeile,” was a music expert of the earliest Islamic centuries. Although much of his life is not known to us, it is believed that he was one of “Ebn E Sina’s” most distinguished students and passed away in 1048 A. D. Like his mentor, “Ebn E Sina”, “Ebn E Zeile” had only a great interest in music and was not a professional. “Alkamal,” his only writing on music that has been recovered, is a theoretical as well as a philosophical examination of music. In his writings, he has alluded to the Persian music of his time, has categorized instruments, and has expanded upon “notation,” and in fact is a continuation of the work done by the great Iranian music theorist, Farabi
