Abstract
The Arabic Grammarians call the “main preposition + genitive noun” and an “adverb” a “prepositional phrase”. For prepositional phrases to assimilate into the sentence structure and fulfill their roles, they should have a specific connection and link to another part of the sentence. This link is called “attachment” and that part is named “attached phrase”. Consequently, a prepositional phrase can possibility attach to different attached phrases; if this is the case, then attachment to any of those possible attached phrases can lead to different deep structures and so to different meanings and messages. This has frequently happened in the Noble Quran’s verses, and its representation can be found in various interpretation and grammar books on the Noble Quran. On the other hand, due to the linguistic limitations of the translation process, the translators of the Quranic verses have preferred only one of the possible attached phrases. As a result, some other possible attached phrases have been ignored and so, other possible meanings and messages of the luminous verses have not transferred into the Persian language.
