Abstract | ||
Pioneer city managers in city development arena, follow strategies that had international attention, so focus their attempt to hosting major sporting events. This study evaluates and describes Tehran as one of megalopolis that has developing strategies were analysis relate to hosting major sporting event. In this qualitative research, data were gather with checklist and semi-structured interview with prime executive managers and sport managements scholars in Iran which has experience and manage the events or attended in bidding and hosting major sporting events and research background. Result showed that Tehran city in comparison with hosting standards for helding mega sport events has weakness in sport venues, transportation system, accommodation and infrastructures. Also, Human resources and city management was not planned for hosting major sporting events. Also, economic and social/community situation and weather of Tehran were other important factors for successful bidding and hosting mega sport events. A conclusion according to viewpoints of tow group of research, Tehran in overall sight Iran, has infrastructures to bid and host one-field sport events (such as Wrestling World Cup) and others sport events (Asian games). | ||
